Clara's House Clinic

Sister Kathy Wood, OSF, watches the clock while checking Maria Ramirez’s pulse at Clara’s House, a free primary care clinic in Sacramento, California on December 21, 2017. For the last 7 years Clara’s House has provided healthcare to those who would otherwise have no other access to it. Wood sees about seven patients a day. “We don’t deal with volume,” she explained. “I believe we need to see the whole patient.” In contrast to many other clinics, which offer only 15 minute appointments, Clara’s House schedules hour appointments with patients.
